What the Google number covers — and what it does not
The 4.1 belongs to the Google listing for the whole place, Wrest Point at 410 Sandy Bay Rd. Reviews on such a listing can be about a night in the Tower, a Motor Inn room, a dinner, a concert or a visit to the casino. With three buildings graded from 3.5 to 4.5 stars by the hotel itself, one average says little about the room you will get. Scores also move; this one is a snapshot from the date above and will not be updated automatically.
We have not read or summarised individual reviews for this page, so we do not tell you what "guests say". We will add a dated summary of recurring themes only when we have read enough reviews on a named platform to do it honestly.
Questions to ask of any review you read
- Which building? A Motor Inn review and a Harbour Suite review are about different products.
- Which side of the Tower? Harbour side means water; mountain side means kunanyi and, per the hotel, quieter higher floors.
- Which night? Friday and Saturday bring late bars and live music; event nights bring crowds.
- Was breakfast included? Only some rates include it. Price complaints often turn on this.
- Was it Sunday or a public holiday? Food and drink surcharges of 10% and 15% apply.
- When was it written? A staged renewal ran from 2018 to 2023 (secondary source), so older reviews may describe rooms that have since been refurbished.
