Hobart is not a swimming-pool city for much of the year — the hotel's own weather notes give winter days of 4 to 12 degrees and autumn of 9 to 17 — so a heated indoor pool on site is a genuine reason to choose this hotel over a city apartment. The Health Club sits on the Tower's lower ground floor, which means guests in the Tower can go down in the lift; Water Edge and Motor Inn guests walk across under cover.
What is actually there
The facilities page lists four kinds of water: the heated indoor pool, a 10-metre hydrotherapy pool, an infants' paddling pool and a spa hot tub, plus saunas. The gym has machines, bikes, treadmills and free weights. Towels for the pool are provided.
Spa treatments?
Discover Tasmania's listing of the hotel includes "Day Spa" and "Spa/Sauna" among its facilities. The hotel's own pages, as we read them, describe the spa hot tub and saunas but do not name a treatment spa or publish a treatment menu. If you want a massage or treatment, ask our desk to check with the hotel before you rely on it.
Families
The infants' paddling pool makes this one of the few parts of a casino hotel built with small children in mind. Swimwear belongs in the Health Club: the property dress code bans it elsewhere, so cover up between your room and the pool.
Early and late
At 6am the Health Club opens half an hour before the breakfast buffet at Boardwalk Bistro; at 10pm it closes as the weekend bars are getting going. For conference delegates, the hotel lists complimentary use of the health club, gym, indoor pool and recreational area among its corporate features.

Planning a day on kunanyi or Bruny Island? A swim and sauna at 6pm is the hotel's best answer to a cold, windy day outdoors. Combine with a Mountain-side room, which the hotel says is the quieter side.
