The landward rooms of the Tower look at kunanyi / Mt Wellington, which rises to 1,271 metres behind the city according to the people who manage Wellington Park. The hotel describes this room's outlook as rolling hills towards the mountain, and its winter notes mention occasional snow on the summit — a sight worth a mountain-side room in July.
The quiet side
Here the hotel is unusually specific: "Higher floors on the mountain side are generally quieter." Combine that with this category's upper-level position and you have the best published answer at Wrest Point to a light sleeper's request. We still recommend writing "quiet, high floor" in the request; a category is a promise about the outlook, not a room number.
Value
At a published $245 from-rate, this is the same entry price as the Deluxe Mountain Twin and the Water Edge rooms, and $25 below the harbour-facing deluxe rooms. For a couple who will spend daylight hours out at MONA or Salamanca and want a good bed at night, it is our default suggestion.
What it is not
It is not a water-view room, and the hotel's description is honest about that — the selling point is the mountain and the city. If the river is why you came, look at the Deluxe Harbour King or the Water Edge rooms.

Rates quoted as 'from' prices on the hotel's own room pages when we read them on 29 October 2026. They move with dates, events and season, and the hotel says peak rates apply in summer.
